Community of Brindisi Modernizes Mapping to Preserve Millennia-Old Architecture

The Community of Brindisi, an Italian port city with millennia‑old architecture and coastal environmental concerns, needed to modernize its Web GIS to better manage zoning, environmental protections and hydrology data. Previously using MapXtreme, the city chose Precisely to upgrade its mapping stack, deploying Spectrum Spatial and MapInfo Pro Advanced to deliver a more current, user‑friendly mapping platform.

Precisely, working with partner Geo Marketing to deploy and configure the solution, consolidated internal and certified regional data in Spectrum Spatial and used MapInfo Pro Advanced to render maps with up to 128 simultaneous layers and tiered access for the public, staff and contractors. The Precisely implementation produced dramatically faster performance (80–90% faster), reduced Brindisi’s mapping team workload by 20–25%, enabled near‑real‑time updates (changes visible within a minute) and received strong positive feedback from residents and city contractors.
