A Precisely Case Study
Banque De Luxembourg, a major private bank with more than €12 billion in assets and an early leader in e‑banking (supporting over 30,000 secure remote accesses per day), needed to scale security and auditing across its System i estate without degrading performance. Faced with hundreds of remote users, daily journal volumes (up to ~15 GB of database and 5 GB of system event data) and the need to control many exit points (ODBC, FTP, DRDA, SQL/QRY, etc.) while integrating with existing HA and banking platforms, the bank selected Precisely and its Assure Monitoring and Reporting and Assure System Access Manager products to meet these requirements.
Precisely implemented Assure Monitoring and Reporting for deep system- and database-level auditing and Assure System Access Manager for centralized access control; the initial phase went live in under two weeks and was expanded over the next two years across perimeter systems and databases. The solution logs, compresses and retains monthly access logs online for six months, monitors SQL/exit-program activity (STRSQL, WRKQRY, RUNQRY, DRDA, etc.), generates customized reports, alerts and PDFs for auditors and governance, and raises alarms on sensitive events — all with virtually no measurable impact on System i performance. The result: automated, auditable controls that cut manual reporting time, satisfied internal and external auditors, and strengthened governance.
