APL Limited, a global transportation & logistics firm that operates 24x7, needed to limit production downtime to no more than four hours per month despite necessary maintenance, backups and OS upgrades that could take many hours. To meet this requirement APL engaged Precisely and deployed Assure MIMIX HA alongside its IBM i-based Power Systems environment.

Precisely configured Assure MIMIX HA to keep a near‑real‑time replica on a secondary server, enabling quick failover and moving nightly backups off the production system. The result: maintenance windows reduced to under four hours per month and downtime virtually eliminated; a hardware failure was handled with a switch to the replica in 10 minutes and operations ran on the backup for about a month; five DR tests were 100% successful and the replica is typically within one second of production. Precisely’s solution also streamlines OS upgrades and the latest Assure MIMIX HA improvements further shorten switch times.
