Adventist Health, a 24/7 healthcare network running MedSeries4 clinical applications, faced growing performance problems with its aging IBM AS/400 model 730 and acquired an IBM System i model 570 to replace it. A conventional migration threatened up to 20 hours of downtime—unacceptable for continuous patient-care operations—so Adventist Health licensed Precisely’s Upgrade/Migrate While Active to minimize disruption.

Precisely ran the new System i 570 in parallel with the production server (installing Assure iTERA HA), completed setup while users remained online, and synchronized 800 gigabytes of data over three evenings with no inconvenience to staff. The cutover delivered MS4 access to every staff member at all five hospitals in one-seventh of the originally estimated time, dramatically reducing downtime, eliminating extra technician shifts, and leaving Adventist Health using Precisely’s Assure iTERA HA for ongoing protection.
