PayPal, the global online payments company, needed to improve its API-first developer experience for internal teams and external developers. Its challenge was reducing time to first call, eliminating duplicated work, strengthening governance and documentation, and making it easier for developers of all skill levels to quickly discover and use APIs.
Using the Postman API Platform and Postman Enterprise, PayPal centralized API design, testing, mocking, monitoring, documentation, and collaboration in one place. The results were significant: time to first call dropped from hours to 1 minute, API testing time went from hours to minutes, and developers on the Enterprise plan saved about 1 hour per week. PayPal’s Public Postman Collection also grew rapidly, with more than 30,000 forks and a top-ten ranking on the Postman Public API Network.
