Case Study: Richmond Behavioral Health Authority strengthens suicide and domestic violence outreach with PointClickCare EDCC

A PointClickCare Case Study

Richmond Behavioral Health Authority identifies 262 domestic violence survivors with PointClickCare

Richmond Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) faced a significant challenge in identifying and supporting patients at risk for domestic violence and suicide, especially as these issues surged during the COVID-19 pandemic. Serving a vulnerable community, RBHA needed a way to proactively find individuals who might be falling through the cracks after hospital visits. They partnered with PointClickCare to address this critical need.

PointClickCare implemented its Emergency Department Care Coordination (EDCC) platform, which provided real-time notifications when patients presented at hospitals with injuries or patterns suggesting domestic violence or suicidal ideation. This enabled RBHA social workers to conduct follow-up within 48 hours. The solution delivered measurable results, with 53% of all program referrals—representing 262 identified survivors of domestic violence—coming directly from the PointClickCare platform, greatly improving outreach and continuity of care.
