Cellular Sales, a Knoxville-based retail company with 600+ stores and 6,500+ employees, faced a major HR challenge when it converted roughly 90% of its independent contractors to full-time employees. That shift created a sharp rise in compliance and administrative work and left the company needing a single platform to handle voluntary benefits, tax filing, applicant tracking, onboarding, and benefits administration. To address this, Cellular Sales implemented PlanSource’s suite of HR services in 2006.

PlanSource implemented customized payroll imports for each store, integrated benefits administration and tax filing, and enabled employees to enroll directly with Unum for voluntary coverage, including rate delivery and Evidence of Insurability processing. As a result, PlanSource streamlined employee lifecycle tracking and payroll management across Cellular Sales’ 600+ locations in 28 states, reduced HR and district manager headaches, and simplified voluntary benefits enrollment for thousands of employees.
