Case Study: Comcast Technology Center saves 15 hours/week and accelerates construction with PlanGrid Build

A PlanGrid Build Case Study

How Structure Tone Organization is building Philadelphia's largest building

Structure Tone Organization, the general contractor behind Philadelphia’s Comcast Technology Center — a 44‑story, $1.2B skyscraper with offices and a Four Seasons hotel — faced a major field productivity problem: superintendents and field staff were spending 3–4 hours a day in the trailer handling paperwork instead of building. After other tools failed to deliver simple mobile usability for document management and punchlists, the firm began a search for a complete field solution.

They piloted and then standardized on PlanGrid, using it to distribute drawings, view plans onsite, manage punchlists, and attach RFIs, submittals and schedules. Companywide training and an internal Operations Technology Group drove rapid adoption; after three months users regained about 3 hours per day (~15 hours/week). PlanGrid is now used across 4,000+ projects and 900+ users, cutting printing needs, improving collaboration with subs/owners/consultants, and continuing to drive process and integration improvements.
