How Granger Construction Uses Software to Reduce Costs in the Field

Granger Construction managed the $168M University of Michigan Athletics South project — a multi‑building, 22‑acre site — and faced three big field challenges: keeping everyone working from the latest drawings without running rolls of printouts across site, tracking thousands of changes and issues, and coordinating progress across a large, fast‑moving job. Traditional paper workflows and inconsistent tablet use threatened costly delays and rework.

Granger mandated PlanGrid for all subcontractors, provided devices and training, and used features like issue tracking, photo pinning, and sheet compare to distribute updates instantly. The result: printing costs were virtually eliminated, distribution time dropped from as much as six labor hours per change to instant updates, over 1,500 changes were identified early, and coordination improved—reducing rework and delivering measurable labor and cost savings.
