VMware partnered with Pixvana to rethink its sales enablement toolkit for the IoT product group. VMware needed a better way to explain the complexity and value of its Internet of Things solution than traditional 2D video and PowerPoint, while also testing whether a new immersive format could improve understanding and sales effectiveness.
Pixvana created a pilot linear VR experience that dropped prospects into a smart factory use case, showing how VMware’s IoT platform tracks worker safety data and helps managers respond in real time. The VR demo debuted at VMworld 2018, drew strong booth traffic, reduced wait times for sales conversations, and generated excited reactions and more meaningful prospect discussions; VMware has since continued using the experience at other events and plans to expand its VR use further.
