A Pitney Bowes Case Study
Barton & Cooney, a 45‑year letter shop in Burlington, New Jersey that processes some 30 million mail pieces monthly, faced tightening turnaround windows, increasing competition and a lost RFP because it lacked the speed and flexibility to consolidate jobs and lower per‑piece costs. Working with Pitney Bowes and having used their FlowMaster® and FPS™ inserters historically, Barton & Cooney sought a digital color inkjet solution to improve accuracy, speed and cost efficiency.
Pitney Bowes implemented its White Paper Factory solution centered on the IntelliJet 20® Printing System, moving to roll‑fed plain white paper and consolidated, file‑based workflows. The result: a four‑million‑piece, defect‑free mailing completed in half the prior time, a 50% increase in throughput, a reduction of two FTEs, and daily output rising from 300,000 images on two toner machines to 450,000 on a single IntelliJet 20—plus lower operating and postage costs and faster responses to new RFPs.
