State of Louisiana Government accelerates in-person mail delivery to contactless delivery with secure locker technology

The State of Louisiana Office of Technology Services (OTS), which processes more than 2.5 million pieces of mail per month and serves 120 executive branch agencies, needed to rapidly shift from hand-delivered mail to contactless delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic to protect employees and maintain mail integrity. OTS partnered with Pitney Bowes to deploy its Intelligent Lockers and SendSuite Tracking for secure, centralized, and trackable mail access.

Pitney Bowes’ Intelligent Lockers were piloted at the Iberville Building and then accelerated across the Capitol complex—28 locker towers at 8 sites—providing chain-of-custody visibility, integration with existing systems, and easy deployment. The State of Louisiana reported a 40% decrease in man-hours per day for mail operations (one location’s delivery time dropped from up to three hours to about 20 minutes), enabling faster, contactless service and scalable savings.
