A Pitney Bowes Case Study
Riverina Water County Council, which supplies water to about 75,000 residents across roughly 15,400 km² with 32,000 connections, faced a growing problem: decade-old desktop mapping software that lagged on updates, didn’t integrate with the council’s asset management system, and forced staff to jump between programs and computers—creating time-consuming, error-prone workflows. With no in-house IT team and frequent paper map updates, RWCC needed a modern, web-based spatial solution; they engaged Pitney Bowes for help.
Pitney Bowes implemented Spectrum Spatial Analyst (integrated with MapInfo Pro) and provided consulting to upload data and connect the web GIS to RWCC’s asset management system. The solution gives real-time sync between desktop and field, lets crews use tablets to verify and update assets (avoiding drives back to Wagga Wagga of up to 70 km), reduces printing and phone inquiries, and enables fire services and residents to access current maps—delivering faster, more accurate asset management and measurable operational savings for Riverina Water County Council.
