A Pitney Bowes Case Study
Derbyshire County Council, which maintains nearly 5,300 km (3,300 miles) of roads and associated assets with limited budgets and just twelve two‑person reactive crews, faced poor visibility and a fragmented paper-based process that made it hard to track reported defects or crew activity. To address these challenges the council partnered with Pitney Bowes and its Location Intelligence solutions, notably Confirm® Intelligent Infrastructure Management, to modernize asset and work-order management.
Pitney Bowes implemented a Single Asset Management System (SAMS) built on Confirm (with ConfirmWorkzone and ConfirmConnect), plus Portrait Dialogue for customer communications and Spectrum® Spatial Analyst for accurate geocoding, and integrated the system with SAP. The result: crews doubled productivity (from ~4 to ~8 jobs per day), repair backlog fell 62% in one year, urgent 2-hour repairs hit 100% completion (up from 67%), and 5‑ and 28‑day repairs became 51% more likely to be on time, while improved data and SAP integration saved staff time and improved prioritization.
