Community of Brindisi modernizes mapping to preserve millennia-old architecture

Community of Brindisi, an Italian port city of about 90,000 with millennia-old architecture and significant environmental and hydrology concerns, needed a modern mapping solution to manage zoning, protected areas and permitting. The city replaced its legacy MapXtreme system with Pitney Bowes’ Spectrum Spatial Analyst and MapInfo Pro Advanced to provide more current, user-friendly Web GIS access for residents, staff and contractors.

Pitney Bowes (with partner Geo Marketing) implemented SSA to ingest certified internal and regional data and MapInfo Pro to render maps with up to 128 visible layers and tiered access. The new Pitney Bowes solution is 80–90% faster than the legacy system, cut the team’s mapping time by 20–25%, propagates updates in about a minute, and has delivered markedly improved user satisfaction.
