AVR accelerates business growth and profitability by moving to color inkjet printing

AVR, Inc., a Houston-based provider of back-office utility-billing services that prints and mails about 600,000 bills per month, faced growing demand for faster, highly customized bills. Their two-step process—preprinted forms plus monochrome laser personalization—required storing three months of stock, caused slow changeovers, and made quick rate or layout changes costly and impractical. Pitney Bowes (which already provided presort mailing services) was engaged to address these challenges.

Pitney Bowes implemented the AcceleJet printing and finishing system to deliver one-pass full-color printing from white rolls with in-line dynamic perforation and scalable support. As a result, AVR, Inc. cut staffing on printing by 75%, reduced typical print-run time by about 50%, shrank preprinted stock from three months to one month, improved print consistency, eliminated changeovers, and significantly lowered production costs—demonstrating measurable efficiency and agility gains enabled by Pitney Bowes.
