Wayfair.com, one of the largest online retailers of home furnishings (selling over 7 million items from 12,000 brands), needed to grow brand awareness and reach new audiences as a relatively new brand. Because visual imagery drives purchase inspiration, Wayfair turned to Pinterest to showcase its extensive product photography and engage shoppers more organically.
Wayfair’s team created thousands of Pins across 150+ boards, linked Pins to product pages and editorial articles, added the Save button sitewide, collaborated with bloggers for high-quality images, and used Pinterest Analytics and the Top Pins API to track trends and run promotions. The strategy drove higher-value traffic—Pinners spent 50% more than other social referrals and 20% more than non-social referrals—while increasing direct sales and brand awareness.
