Sephora, the global beauty retailer, noticed customers were already saving its product images on Pinterest but wanted to boost discoverability and make it easier for shoppers to save and share favorites from Sephora.com. The challenge was converting organic Pinterest interest into higher engagement and measurable website traffic while integrating saving into their marketing channels.

Sephora added the Pinterest Save button to tens of thousands of product pages during a redesign, ran the Sephora Color Wash campaign, created pinnable emails that let users save directly from messages, curated “It Lists” boards, and used Pinterest Analytics to refine content. Within months Pinterest became a top-10 referrer, a Color Blocking email generated over 14,000 saves, and traffic from Pinterest grew 60%—with Pinterest followers spending 15 times more than the average Facebook fan.
