Burberry, the British heritage brand known for digital innovation, wanted to recreate the personalized, in-store experience for the launch of Cat Lashes Mascara and to reach new beauty consumers—particularly beauty-obsessed millennials—to inspire trial and grow online sales.

Partnering with Pinterest, Burberry used the Pinterest API to build the platform’s first customized beauty experience: pinners completed a short questionnaire and received automatically generated, personalized boards with product info, tips and monogrammed content. The campaign produced over 30,000 custom boards and more than 1 million Burberry makeup Pins, sold out 5,000 samples in five days, drove clickable shop links to Sephora and led to follow-up API-driven campaigns like the Burberry Gift Finder.
