Golf Digest, a Condé Nast brand with a long print history and millions of monthly web visitors, needed a way to monetize digital content without alienating its passionate, pay‑hesitant audience. Their challenge was to build a premium offering that supplemented—not replaced—the free content users trusted, while enabling flexible pricing and testing to find what would actually convert.
They launched Golf Digest Schools and Golf Digest All Access—offered a la carte or by subscription—and partnered with Piano to handle per‑product gating, subscription management, promos, gifting and trials. The new model and iterative testing drove a 2018 conversion rate of 1.06%, a 400% revenue lift from a pre‑Masters promo and a 185% boost in conversions during a gifting campaign, while enabling ongoing optimization and personalized offers.
