Movingdots extends telematics app Coloride into nine languages

Movingdots, a Bern-based telematics software company and subsidiary of Swiss Re, needed to expand its Coloride driving-data app beyond German and English into nine languages (including Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Dutch, Chinese and Arabic). The main challenge was scaling and managing translations across software strings, documentation and UI—especially implementing right-to-left Arabic layouts—while moving away from slow, error-prone spreadsheet workflows.

Movingdots adopted the Phrase localization platform, integrating it into their sprint-driven development, creating custom RTL libraries for Arabic, and leveraging Swiss Re’s localization resources. The automated workflow replaced manual spreadsheets, improved communication and QA, enabled near-real-time translation updates, and allowed them to deliver new language versions in about a month or less—successfully localizing Coloride into nine languages with fewer errors and faster time-to-market.
