Case Study: Kirikkale University boosts students' CAT skills and employability with Phrase Localization Platform

Integrating Translation Technology at Kirikkale University

Memsource partnered with Kırıkkale University to give translation students hands-on access to professional CAT tools, addressing two key challenges: the high cost of translation software and uncertainty among faculty about which technologies to teach. Professors and students alike faced an expanding landscape of tools and workflows, leaving students overwhelmed and potentially underprepared for the translation job market.

The university adopted Memsource’s free Academic license across three courses, and Professor Caner Çetiner integrated the Memsource Student Certification Program into his curriculum. Across one term 91 students learned the platform, 81 sat the certification test and 12 passed, and students reported that classroom access to Memsource improved their job readiness; the tool’s intuitive interface and low learning curve helped teach the core principles of modern translation technology while removing cost barriers for about 40 graduating students per year.
