House of Electrical Supplies, a distributor of electrical automation, lighting, cable assembly, and distribution boxes in the Greater Toronto area, needed more flexible reporting than its Oracle JD Edwards ERP system could provide. Its team found the ERP’s reporting to be one-dimensional and had to rely on IT for detailed sales analysis, filtering, and multi-dimensional metrics. They turned to Phocas for BI software integration to give users better access to their own data.

Phocas implemented a straightforward integration by pulling flat files from the ERP and building a sales database for analysis, with plans to expand into purchasing and inventory later. The rollout was quick, alerts were set up for sales and margin issues, and the sales team began using dashboards to compare periods and spot anomalies. As a result, IT reporting requests stopped, reporting workload dropped significantly, and House of Electrical Supplies could answer questions and investigate data issues much faster.
