MemorialCare - Customer Case Study

MemorialCare, a not‑for‑profit health system with four hospitals and 14,000+ staff across Orange and Los Angeles counties, aimed to improve patient care by first improving the employee experience. Their challenge was to reduce stress and burnout, boost resilience and engagement across a 24‑hour, multi‑site workforce, and create a consistent culture of wellbeing that supports staff in and out of the workplace.

They scaled "The Good Life" program—anchored by onsite coaches, peer support and wellbeing activities—and in 2017 added Virgin Pulse’s mobile platform to deliver personalization, rewards and real‑time analytics, pairing high‑touch local services with high‑tech engagement. The combined approach drove measurable impact: MemorialCare became a four‑time Gallup Great Workplace Award winner and an AHA Fit Friendly company, while participants reported strong gains (81% more aware of benefits, 67% more engaged, 77% prouder of culture, 93% formed positive daily habits, 63% more productive and 40% fewer sick days).
