Hillrom, a global med‑tech company with 10,000+ employees, wanted to strengthen its Eat Better, Move More, Stress Less wellness strategy as demand for mental‑health support grew—especially among remote teams. With mindfulness already popular (roughly 40% monthly engagement), the company faced the challenge of increasing awareness, access and sustained participation in mental‑health resources across its workforce.
Partnering with Virgin Pulse, Hillrom launched a month‑long March Mindfulness campaign—using a March‑Madness bracket, new habit challenges (Choose a New Attitude; Make Time for Play), manager training and Whil webinars, plus incentives—to drive participation. The effort produced strong results: 62 completed brackets, over 1,900 bracket activities, 600+ participants (65% goal completion) in one habit and 476 participants (72% completion) in the other, a 36% increase in members earning Whil rewards, and improved manager readiness to support employee mental health.
