VS Engineering’s automation of its employee review cycles created a more efficient process

VS Engineering, a civil engineering firm with 150–500 employees and eight offices across Indiana and Ohio, needed a better way to manage performance reviews as it grew. Its manual process of Word docs and editable PDFs was time-consuming, hard to administer, and made it difficult to track goals or keep review cycles on time. The company selected PerformYard to replace its paper-heavy review workflow with a simpler, more organized performance management process.

With PerformYard, VS Engineering automated annual self and manager reviews, added quarterly reviews for select employees, and expanded the platform to support performance improvement plans, exit interviews, and new-hire check-ins. The team also introduced the system companywide and plans to use it more for goal setting and ongoing feedback. While no hard metrics were shared, VS Engineering said PerformYard saved significant time, improved access to performance data, and is helping the company build a more continuous performance culture.
