Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, a 333-bed facility in Downers Grove, IL with more than 1,000 physicians, faced excessive overhead physician paging that harmed staff productivity and patient experience—logging as many as 609 overhead physician pages in a month (about 30–40 per week). To create a quieter, more healing environment, the hospital implemented PerfectServe’s Clinical Collaboration solution to replace legacy switchboard-initiated overhead pages.
PerfectServe worked with the communications team to shift paging requests to its platform and trained staff and physicians on the new workflow; within weeks overhead page requests to the switchboard fell to one or two, and the hospital achieved a 99% reduction in overhead physician pages. The change reduced switchboard queues so staff could answer patient calls faster, increased staff satisfaction as nurses adopted the system, and physicians now prefer being contacted via PerfectServe.
