How Elsevier used Core Events to define adoption success

Elsevier needed a better, more consistent way to define and measure successful adoption across its product portfolio, especially for its biomedical database Embase. Working with Pendo and its Core Events product, the team wanted to identify the key “aha” moments in the search experience for scientists and researchers and align different teams around a shared definition of success.

Pendo helped Elsevier select 10 Core Events, create a common language for adoption, and build a benchmark for measuring Product Engagement Score. The result was more consistent KPI tracking, better cross-functional alignment, and a more data-driven, user-centric approach to product decisions, with Elsevier able to validate whether efforts were improving adoption.
