A Pegasystems Case Study
The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Bureau of the Fiscal Service manages the post-payment lifecycle for ACH, FEDWIRE and government checks across more than 1.3 billion payments and $3 trillion annually. Facing five legacy applications, disparate processes and seven billion historical records, the bureau struggled with paper-heavy workflows, limited visibility and nearly 1 million exception cases that made accurate, timely reconciliation and customer service difficult.
To address this, the bureau partnered with Pega to modernize its Post-Payment System (PPS), consolidating all post-payment lifecycle management into a single, web-enabled, secure system with scanning, document management and a portal for financial institutions. The solution improved payment integrity, visibility and agency communications, reduced about 1 million pieces of paper, simplified reporting and reconciliation, and cut system operating costs by roughly $10 million per year.
