A Pegasystems Case Study
The Deepwater Horizon Economic Claims Center faced intense criticism after the 2010 oil spill claims process became slow, opaque, and inaccurate, even as hundreds of thousands of claims piled up. To handle the largest class action lawsuit of all time, the center worked with Pegasystems and its Pega platform to build a new claims management system that could manage massive scale, complex rules, and ongoing change.
Pegasystems implemented a fully customized claims solution with workflow, fraud analytics, lifecycle and ticketing capabilities, and change control, integrating 12 external systems, four major vendors, and thousands of existing claims. The result was more than $10 billion in paid claims, over 500,000 claims processed since 2012, and a major improvement in efficiency and speed from submission to resolution while maintaining legal and security compliance.
