Pega helped the Bavarian government rapidly digitize its COVID-19 financial aid program after a manual, paper-based application process created long delays for self-employed workers and SMEs seeking emergency support. The ministry needed a fast, secure way to manage a surge of applications and get funds to businesses quickly while staff worked remotely.

Using the Pega Platform’s low-code capabilities and T‑Systems hosting, the team built, tested and deployed a fully digital application in five days, automating approval workflows and payment notifications. The solution processed over 300,000 applications and delivered €2.2 billion within weeks, enabled remote processing for staff and was reused by other departments for additional aid programs.
