SI Tickets, launched in 2021 under the Sports Illustrated brand, set out to disrupt online ticketing with a “fan-first” fee model and a mobile-first experience for millions of events worldwide. To stand out in a crowded, mature market and appeal to younger, mobile shoppers, SI Tickets needed a familiar, easy, and social payment option that would lower costs for fans and drive conversion.

The company partnered with Venmo to offer a flat $10 fee on select purchases and a streamlined mobile checkout. The result: Venmo accounted for 57% of sales, delivered an average order value about 34% higher than traditional credit cards, and produced the highest repeat rate of any payment method (16.15%), helping SI Tickets expand reach and boost customer engagement.
