Shoebacca, an online retailer offering about 25,000 styles of shoes, accessories and athletic gear, set out to strengthen customer loyalty and lift a below‑industry repeat purchase rate. Head of Digital Jeff Thomas aimed to build a loyalty platform and re‑engage shoppers with a more immersive experience that would increase lifetime value.
In March 2021 Shoebacca tested PayPal Store Cash—targeted emails offering $5 off a $50 purchase if customers returned within seven days—and trusted PayPal’s data targeting to drive conversions. The campaign delivered a 54% higher average order value, a 40% redemption rate of offers, and roughly +700% ROAS, and its success prompted Shoebacca to roll out PayPal’s Pay in 4 option to further increase checkout flexibility.
