Penzu - Customer Case Study

Penzu is a privacy-first online journaling app founded by Alexander Mimran in 2009 to replace clunky, insecure diary options with a simple, encrypted place for private writing. The company needed to deliver a secure, user-friendly product that would appeal to consumers and classrooms worldwide, and to monetize and accept payments across borders where credit cards aren’t always common.

Penzu built a password-protected, optionally military-grade encrypted journaling platform (with classroom features for teachers and students) and integrated PayPal to provide a simple, secure global payment solution. As a result, Penzu grew to more than one million users in 170 countries, expanded into major international markets, and can reliably accept and transfer payments worldwide.
