A PayPal Case Study
A US-based enterprise flower and gourmet foods retailer with decades of gifting experience wanted to re-engage users who browsed and abandoned its ecommerce site and preferred a performance-based approach rather than paying for impressions. Like many merchants, it also struggled to recognize high-intent visitors—something PayPal’s network of roughly 300 million active accounts can help address by identifying, on average, 40% of those customers.
The retailer integrated PayPal Store Cash to identify, retarget and acquire PayPal users who dropped off before purchase; Store Cash is sent to the shopper’s PayPal wallet and automatically applied at checkout, and merchants are charged only on a cost-per-acquisition basis when cash is redeemed. Since integration, the merchant achieved a 1562% average return on ad spend and a 71.6% aggregate lift in conversions from abandoned shoppers (internal PayPal data, Dec 2019).
