A PayPal Case Study
Internet Fusion is a UK-based online retailer of action-sports clothing and equipment run by enthusiasts across 14 niche websites (including Blackleaf.com, Webtogs.com and FitnessFootwear.com). With a sizeable international customer base in Australia, the US, Canada and Europe, the company needed to simplify and make transparent its pricing, postage and payment processes to avoid unexpected duties and courier costs for overseas customers.
Internet Fusion uses locally familiar channels such as eBay (leveraging its Global Shipping programme), develops local sites once markets prove viable, and offers PayPal for payments — including processing credit cards — to accept multiple currencies. As a result PayPal now handles about 70% of sales, has processed payments from over 90 countries in the past year, and helped international orders grow to roughly one-third of revenues by making local-currency pricing and checkout simpler and more reassuring for customers.
