CrowdFarming and PayPal simplify the food chain and payments

CrowdFarming, founded in Valencia in 2017, is a direct-to-consumer marketplace that lets farmers sell organic goods and set fixed prices, reducing intermediaries and food waste. As the platform expanded across Europe, the team faced a challenge: improve checkout conversion, acquire new customers and strengthen fraud protection with a trusted global payment option.

Integrating PayPal into checkout (and later Reference Transactions) reduced friction and boosted trust—within six months PayPal represented 25% of sales, 57% of net new customers chose PayPal (72% in Germany), and 66% of PayPal buyers were repeat customers. PayPal also helped detect and resolve fraud, enabling faster customer acquisition and stronger retention as CrowdFarming scales.
