Sarasota County Public Utilities needed to modernize its outdated billing and payment platform to meet customer demands. The manual processing of mail-in payments and handling billing inquiries by phone was inefficient. They sought an electronic bill presentment and payment (EBPP) provider, Paymentus, that could offer a web and mobile self-service solution with a crucial real-time integration to their customer information system.
Paymentus seamlessly integrated with the county's system using its Instant Payment Network® and migrated all 60,000 customers. The solution introduced features like "Pay Now" functionality, advanced notifications, and a new interactive voice response (IVR) phone system. The results were significant, including a 43% increase in autopay enrollment in the first 60 days and over 11,000 payments processed through the IVR, which saved staff hundreds of hours and accelerated revenue collection.
