Case Study: Vodafone consolidates 40 data centers into 6 with Oracle OCI Dedicated Region

A Oracle Case Study

Preview of the Vodafone Case Study

Vodafone uses Oracle Cloud to help fast-track its telecom reinvention

Vodafone, a leading European and African telecom company, needed to modernize and centralize its core IT services, including business and operations support systems, while meeting low-latency, high-security, and data-residency requirements. To avoid relying on public cloud alone, Vodafone turned to Oracle and OCI Dedicated Region to support its cloud transformation across thousands of databases and workloads.

Oracle implemented OCI Dedicated Region in Vodafone’s own data centers, along with Oracle Database@Azure, enabling a secure, scalable distributed cloud platform managed largely by Oracle. The result was a consolidation from 40 global data centers to 6 dedicated regions in 3 countries, lower operational costs, faster code releases, and better performance; Vodafone Business also used Oracle APEX to replace rigid systems with 50+ low-code apps, cutting costs by up to 90% and accelerating delivery from years to weeks.
