The Cornell Store Evolves from Campus Store to Full-Service Retailer

Cornell Retail Services, known as The Cornell Store, is a university‑owned retailer serving students, faculty and alumni from seven Ithaca locations and one in Manhattan. Facing declining textbook revenue, the store reimagined itself as a full‑service retailer selling apparel, tech and gifts, but its legacy campus‑store systems—static, sometimes inaccurate and unable to support rentals/ebooks—held back omnichannel growth and operational agility.

To modernize operations it implemented NetSuite’s campus store bundle (NetSuite OneWorld and SuiteProjects) to unify ecommerce, point‑of‑sale and back‑end systems. The real‑time visibility into inventory and product performance improved the ecommerce site and POS usability, enabled data‑driven decisions to lower costs, and positioned the retailer to grow its flagship store and online channels while improving the customer experience.
