Nonprofit Bonneville Environmental Foundation Boosts its Impact with NetSuite.org

Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) is a Portland‑based nonprofit that markets renewable energy certificates, delivers solar education to K–12 schools, and manages watershed and renewable energy programs. BEF struggled with a fragmented mix of QuickBooks, FileMaker Pro and Excel, time‑consuming manual reconciliations, and limited access to centralized data — challenges that hindered cost‑efficiency and its ability to compete in a volatile, partly commercial market.

BEF implemented Oracle NetSuite (ERP, Inventory Management, CRM) through the NetSuite Social Impact program and worked with partner Demand Solutions Group to build custom workflows, creating a single system of record and automating paper‑based processes. The result was dramatically improved visibility and compliance, a reduction in the annual environmental commodity delivery exercise from 144 hours to 8 hours, stronger financial reporting, management of up to 150 contracts a year, support for Solar 4R Schools reaching 400,000 students, and measurable environmental impact tracking (6.8 million metric tons of carbon avoided and 5.5 million MWh of clean energy).
