Indiana University Boosts Recruitment by Meeting Students on Social Channels

Indiana University wanted to boost recruitment by letting current students create and share authentic stories about campus life directly to prospective students’ social channels. The challenge was finding a platform that could aggregate student-generated articles, photos and videos, allow editors to moderate and format content, and enable easy sharing across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other networks.

IU used Oracle Marketing Cloud as a content hub, with 50–150 student contributors across 80 categories and an editor spending less than an hour a day to moderate. The program produces about 100 stories a month (1,200 in year one), attracts roughly 360 daily visitors with average visits of two minutes and two pages, sees 58.5% new visitors, nearly doubled site traffic year-over-year, and generated social sharing peaks of up to 7,000 shares for top stories.
