1177 Care Guide moves to a new platform

1177.se is Sweden’s largest health information site with about 12 million visits a month and a portfolio that includes 1177 Vårdguiden, UMO and several national care handbooks. Faced with the need to modernize the look and consolidate multiple services and stakeholders from 21 county councils, the project had to handle thousands of pages of medically sensitive content while meeting strict requirements for security, accessibility and peak-load performance.

Working with Knowit, the team migrated the sites to Optimizely Content Cloud, building a common, more powerful platform via agile cross‑functional teams. Automated testers and an administrative “robot” handled content migration, and accessibility and load testing ensured stability and scalability. The result is a modernized site with improved stability and operations, easier ongoing development and updates, reduced manual effort and a platform able to handle large traffic spikes.
