Case Study: Upwork prevents 100% of zero-day file attacks with OPSWAT MetaDefender CDR

A OPSWAT Case Study

Preview of the Upwork Case Study

Upwork - Customer Case Study

Upwork, the freelancing platform connecting businesses with freelance talent, receives millions of files each day and needed to protect its users and systems from malicious uploads. OPSWAT’s MetaDefender platform initially helped block known threats with multi-scanning, but sophisticated malware was still slipping through, with as many as 3–4 attacks per week.

OPSWAT implemented MetaDefender CDR, its content disarm and reconstruction solution, to sanitize files and remove hidden threats such as macros, scripts, and embedded files while preserving usability. After deployment, Upwork reported no further malware incidents, 100% prevention of zero-day file attacks versus 70% with standard AV, and minimal impact on user experience, with 75% of files processed in under a second and 99% in under six seconds.
