Voltage-driven data encryption-as-a-service protects 10 million sensitive customer records in a complex environment

Swisscom faced the challenge of protecting sensitive customer data in its service provisioning and fulfilment systems after an internal audit found it was vulnerable to cyberattacks. With more than 10 million records spread across 15 key applications, Swisscom needed a security approach from OpenText that would avoid costly redesigns, performance issues, and major changes to business-critical systems.

OpenText, working through Voltage SecureData, implemented a data-centric encryption solution that protected data at rest and in transit using format-preserving encryption. Swisscom deployed it as a private cloud, geo-redundant encryption-as-a-service platform and onboarded the applications in phases. The result was full encryption of 10 million records across 15 applications with no application changes required, creating a stable, enterprise-ready solution with virtually no operational effort.
