Swisscom Introduces Mobile Contract Signing at Point Of Sale

Swisscom, Switzerland’s leading telecommunications provider with about 21,100 employees, 6.5 million mobile users and CHF 11.7 billion in FY2014 revenue, faced resource‑intensive, paper‑based point‑of‑sale processes across 131 shops. Manual signatures and the need to digitize large volumes of contracts and billing archives drove high costs, long cycle times, error-prone data and heavy administrative load (including large monthly account loads and historical bill migration).

To address this, Swisscom deployed OpenText PowerDocs eSignature (from 2013) to enable legally valid digital signatures on desktops and mobile devices, with centrally stored signed documents immediately available for downstream processing. The rollout cut processing times by about 50%, reduced printing and processing costs, improved data quality and customer experience, lowered paper consumption, and was expanded to all point‑of‑sale locations including partner stores.
