British American Tobacco Turns to the OpenText Cloud to Improve Employee File Management

British American Tobacco (BAT), a global tobacco and next‑generation products company with around 50,000 employees and brands sold in more than 200 markets, faced a highly federated HR function spanning roughly 180 countries with many processes, service levels and point solutions. As part of a global HR transformation centered on SAP SuccessFactors, BAT needed a single, secure source of truth for employee records and a way to simplify document generation, access and compliance.

BAT deployed OpenText Extended ECM for SAP SuccessFactors in the OpenText Cloud, centralizing employee files, automating communications with template-driven document generation, and tightly integrating access controls with SuccessFactors. The rollout enabled three HR shared service centers, faster reporting and analysis, improved security and GDPR readiness, and tangible benefits including cost and time savings, over 20,000 employee files already available (target ~60,000) and more than 95% user adoption.
