A OpenGov Case Study
The Town of Lakeville, MA needed to modernize its building permit approval process and make it easier for contractors, residents, and staff to manage applications and inspections. Building Commissioner Nathan Darling led the effort with OpenGov Permitting & Licensing, aiming to create a more business-friendly, consistent, and regionally efficient permitting experience.
OpenGov implemented a cloud-based permitting portal with step-by-step workflows, online application and payment capabilities, digital record management, and inspection tracking. The rollout took nine months, and since going live in March 2019, Lakeville has seen improved internal visibility, stronger accountability, faster processing, and better customer service, including real-time status updates and time-stamped inspections completed within required 48-hour timeframes.
