Lessons From a Code Enforcement Clerk on Becoming a Lean Government with Digital Permitting

The City of Central Falls needed a better way to manage permitting, inspections, and code enforcement while improving communication across departments. To support its goal of becoming a leaner government, the city adopted OpenGov Permitting & Licensing as part of Rhode Island’s statewide ePermitting initiative.

OpenGov helped Central Falls centralize permit information, documents, notes, and workflows in one system, making it easier for staff to collaborate and auto-assign inspection tasks. The city saw productivity increase, reporting became much faster, and monthly reports that once took a long time are now generated in the system. The result was a more efficient permitting process and better service for residents.
