A OpenGov Case Study
The City of Jackson, Tennessee struggled with a paper-based permitting process that slowed development, created delays for contractors and residents, and overloaded staff with manual re-entry, printing, and walk-in requests. To modernize the workflow and integrate with existing systems, the City turned to OpenGov Permitting & Licensing.
OpenGov implemented a digital permitting solution with more than 30 applications online, online payments, instant permit approvals, digital plan review, and real-time inspection updates. As a result, building approval time was reduced by 67%, walk-in traffic dropped, and staff cut permit processing from 20–30 minutes to 5–10 minutes, freeing time and reducing the need for filing cabinets and manual handling.
